To counter the Congress Party’s Jan Akrosh Diwas, BJP held ‘Jan Abhaar Divas’ in Nagpur and Maharashtra.

Congress held this rally to protest against the government’s demonetization move.

There were people who offered sweets and flowers to those who were working to counter ‘Jan Akrosh Diwas’ rally.

Earlier, the Opposition Parties called for a nationwide protest against the move of demonetization.

Furthermore, the opposition held a meeting before the Parliament session to talk about demonetization.

They even demanded an apology from PM Modi for his remarks about the opposition.

The Left Front has called for a strike or ‘Bharat Bandh’.

Along with them, the left parties in Kolkata and Kerala have called for 12-hour bandh.

Due to the strike, the markets of Kerala were closed.

DMK workers are also protesting against demonetization in Tamil Nadu. According to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha which is led by BJD initially supported demonetization but the schools and colleges were shut down on Monday.

As part of their protest, the Opposition delayed the Parliament and demanded Narendra Modi to respond to the debate on currency ban. They said that many common people are facing issues which must be addressed by Modi. They demanded an apology from Modi because of how suddenly he made this decision which caused problems to many citizens.

Congress stated that they have not called for Bharat Bandh but instead it was ‘Jan Aakrosh Diwas’ to protests over demonetization. They said that BJP spread wrong information that Congress and other opposition called for a ‘bandh’ when it was just a rally.

A senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that country has already been in a shut down from November 9 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetization of higher denomination notes. He said that is why Congress does not want a bandh.
