Sleep is one of the necessities of a healthy life, and it is best to get eight or nine hours of sleep every night.

However, many people have trouble sleeping and staying awake at the right times.

Sometimes this can simply be caused by a badly-managed sleep schedule, often characterized by staying up late at night and then taking naps during the day.

Yet there are also several health problems that can affect one’s sleep schedule in a negative way, which have nothing to do with time management.


These health issues can affect the body’s use of energy, and they can cause a lack of sleep, a lack of wakefulness, or both.

One of the causes of constant fatigue is anemia. Anemia is a disorder of the blood, which occurs when the body does not produce enough red blood cells to properly carry oxygen throughout the body. This can cause a lack of energy needed to stay awake.

Depression does not only affect the mind negatively, but it has negative effects on the body as well. These include aching, trouble staying awake, and trouble sleeping.

A lack of exercise can also cause frequent fatigue, since exercise helps energize the body. It allows new mitochondria to be created in cells, which helps boost bodily energy.

People with type 2 diabetes can also have a lack of wakefulness. Sugar builds up in their blood, instead of being used for bodily energy.

Thyroid issues can also cause sleeping problems. The thyroid gland produces hormones that control major bodily functions. A dysfunctional thyroid can create problems with these hormones and mess up bodily energy levels.

The body needs calories in order to produce energy. Not eating enough calories causes less bodily energy to be produced, which therefore causes more fatigue.

Eating too much sugar can mess with the body’s energy levels. A sudden intake of sugar can cause a spike in energy, leading to a sugar crash and feelings of drowsiness soon after.

Water is also essential to bodily health, and it helps boost the body’s energy levels. Not drinking enough water can cause increased fatigue.
