Sleeping disorders and avoiding them
In the modern day, sleep has become a precious thing to have. Most office workers and students find it hard to get a proper sleep. While experts say that it is important to get at least eight hours of sleep, many find it hard to even fall asleep. The reason for this is various sleeping disorders.
Here are some of the most common ones and how to deal with them.
Insomnia
Insomnia is possibly the biggest sleeping disorder. Many have experienced it in various levels. Insomnia sufferers find it very hard to sleep. They often wake up in the middle of the night and find it hard to go back to sleep as well. Due to this, their day time lacks focus. Many people end up performing badly in their schools and work places.
Acute insomnia can be solved by changing sleep habits. It is a slow process. Chronic sufferers need to visit a physician for treatment.
Sleep Apnea
Sleep Apnea also ruins sleep. In this, the person cannot breathe due to blockage of respiratory system for a while. Partial blockage causes snoring and full blockage leads to choking. If this keeps happening more, sleep becomes almost impossible.
Sleep Apnea can solved by making lifestyle changes. Increase your exercise and eat healthy. Avoid drinking alcoholic drinks and quit smoking as well. Sleeping sideways can also be helpful.
Restless Leg syndrome
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is also a common sleep problem causing people to have an overwhelming need to move their legs.
People often feel a pull or ache in their legs which can only be relieved by movement of legs.
RLS can be solved by treating the underlying cause. This can be iron deficiency, diabetes, or even Parkinson’s disease.
Making healthy lifestyle changes will certainly help in treating RLS. Hot baths can also provide relief.
