Holi Skin and Hair care tips

As Holi is around the corner, many people have started preparations for celebrating the festival.

Due to increasing health consciousness in people, many people prefer to use organic and natural colours for the festival.

Still, some people may use regular colours that have chemicals. These colours may harm your hair and skin.

So while celebrating Holi and playing with colours, take proper care of your skin to avoid skin problems like irritation, redness, itchiness etc.

Here are some pre and post-Holi skin and haircare tips:

Pre-Holi skin and hair care tips:

  • Rub some ice cubes on your skin before playing with colours. It helps close your skin pores so that the colours do not penetrate your skin.
  • As many prefer to play Holi outdoors, applying sunscreen is essential to avoid exposure to the sun, tanning and other skin issues.
  • Apply coconut oil to your skin and hair to prevent them from penetrating colours. It also helps to get rid of the colours easily after the celebration.

Post-Holi skin and hair care tips:

  • Clean your face with plenty of plain water before using a cleansing cream. You can also use a herbal skin cleansing cream to clean your face.
  • Massage your body and hair with sesame seed oil to remove the colour from the body. Then scrub the body with a loofah while bathing.
  • You can make your own facemask at home with natural ingredients like turmeric, sandalwood etc., and apply it to the face to get rid of colours.
  • Mix one teaspoon of coconut oil and almond oil and apply the mixture to the skin after cleaning your skin. It helps like a moisturizer.
  • Apply aloe vera gel to soothe irritation and burning. You can also use an aloe vera gel hair pack made with curd and aloe vera gel to condition your hair.
  • The next day of Holi, apply a face pack made with curd, honey and turmeric to your skin. It keeps your skin soft and smooth. It also removes tan.
