The Fortune 500 is a list of the five hundred wealthiest companies from around the world, and now, seven Indian companies have made their places on the list.

Their revenue now ranks among some of the global big-timers out there, with the topper of the list being the massive retail store Walmart. These are the companies that now are listed with them.

First among the India companies is the Indian Oil Corporation, which is ranked at 161st on the list. The firm ONGC left the list for 2016, but the gems and jewelry exporter Rajesh Exports has just made its debut on the list, coming in at the 423rd position. There are four state-run companies out of the seven, Indian Oil among them.

The three state-run companies that are below Indian Oil are the big banker SBI and the petroleum giants Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum.


The three private-sector firms out of the seven are Reliance Industries, Tata Motors and Rajesh Exports. Reliance Industries is top-ranked among the private companies.

The revenue of Indian Oil is $54,700,000,000, which ranks it at 161st on the list, dropping down from its place at 119th last year.

RIL has also dropped down the list, from 158th to 215th. The petroleum companies have also dropped places, with Bharat Petroleum having gone from 280th to 358th, and Hindustan Petroleum having gone from 327th to 367th.

However, Tata Motors has gone up the list, climbing from 254th to 226th. SBI has also improved its rank, having gone from 260th to 232nd.

Altogether, the five hundred wealthiest companies generated $27,600,000,000,000 in revenue and $1,500,000,000,000 in profits in 2015.

The companies employ 67,000,000 people total worldwide, but only represent thirty-three countries.

These large numbers truly show how these 500 wealthiest companies have a massive financial impact on lives around the globe.
