Petroleum dealers start protest in Haryana

In order to show their disappointment in the Haryana Government, over 2,300 fuel pumps have stopped selling petrol and diesel to customers. The petroleum dealers have started their indefinite strike to press for numerous demands which include reducing VAT on diesel.

All Haryana petroleum Dealers Association Senior vice president Palwinder Singh Oberoi has announced that as many as 2,310 fuel pumps across the state went on strike which started at 6 am in the morning yesterday.

Petroleum dealers won’t buy and sell fuel as per their protest, he added. Due to this strike, all fuel outlets throughout the state including Gurgaon were closed.

There are some fuel pumps which are open. They are directly owned by oil corporations like Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL.

When called for a meeting, the dealers have refused to interact with Haryana BJP Chief Subhash Barala for resolution of the matter. They stated that they will speak only with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

The main reasons for the agitation of Petroleum dealers were due to the failure of Haryana government to keep the tax on diesel lower compared to neighboring states. They demanded that the tax on diesel should be lower by 1-2% than the rates compared to neighboring states.
