Amazing and easy features in the passport app
With the move towards digitization, the government has recently added new features in the official “mPassportSeva” app.
Now with the new features, people can apply for new passports from their smartphones directly from anywhere.
The app is free to download on both Android and iOS platforms. However, when you are downloading it, be careful with it, there are several fake versions roaming the app stores.
The correct app is made by ‘Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) Division’ and not any other government agency.
With that said, let us take a look at what are the new features in the app.
Users can now apply for a fresh passport along with PCC form filing, make online payments for the application form, arrange appointment scheduling/rescheduling.
That is not all, users can also apply for a new passport even when they have a passport under certain conditions.
These include, if the passport needs changes in existing personal particulars, if the passport will expire within 3 years or expired more than three years ago, if the pages of passport are exhausted, or in cases of lost or damaged passport.
The process for applying for a passport via mPassportSeva is the same as in ‘Passport Seva’ website. The application is the same.
In order to apply, Select New User Registration in the app.
Then select Passport Office based on your city.
Type your details that are asked.
After this, create your unique login ID and be sure to have a strong password. You can simply use your email ID as a login ID for the app.
In the next stage you need to create a security question and answer. Be sure to remember this as it useful in cases of forgotten passwords.
Enter the captcha code and then hit submit.
The final step is activating your account by verifying your email ID. Click on the verification link sent to your email.
