WhatsApp rolls out exciting features to rival Zoom & Google Meet
WhatsApp is launching several new features this week, aiming to compete with platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.
These updates promise to enhance user experience during video calls and messaging.
Firstly, WhatsApp will introduce screen sharing during video calls, a feature recently discovered in its beta version. This will allow users to share movies or other content with friends and family during video calls. Thus, WhatsApp aims to make virtual gatherings more interactive and fun.
Secondly, WhatsApp is expanding the participant limit in group video calls. Users will be able to include up to 32 people in a single video call on any device. This update facilitates larger group interactions, making it easier for families, friends, and teams to connect simultaneously.
Thirdly, during group interactions, WhatsApp will provide options for users to highlight themselves so they can lead group activities effectively. The feature is particularly useful for meetings, presentations, and other group events.
In addition to these features, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to transcribe their voice messages directly on their devices. This feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp for iPhone beta update initially. It is expected to be available on Android soon.
WABetaInfo says that the transcription feature will require users to download an additional 150MB of app data.
The transcription capability will be useful in situations, especially where playing voice messages is not feasible.
This ensures that important messages can be read even in quiet or noisy environments.
Furthermore, WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.13.8 reveals plans to allow users to select a language for transcriptions. Options will include various languages like Hindi, English, Spanish etc.
However, users will have to download a corresponding language data package to enable this functionality.
These new features mark a significant upgrade for WhatsApp, enhancing its functionality and competitiveness in the video call and messaging space.
By introducing these new features, WhatsApp continues to innovate and meet the evolving needs of its users.
