WhatsApp allows 32 participants in group calls on desktop
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is expanding its video calling capabilities on its Windows desktop app.
Users will now be able to engage in video and audio calls with up to 32 participants, an increase from the previous limit of eight participants for group video calls.
The enhanced feature is currently being rolled out to beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta update 2.23.24.1.0.
WABetaInfo shared a screenshot revealing that selected beta testers would receive an invitation to try out group calling.
The invitation emphasizes the ability to make video calls to both contacts and groups directly from the Windows app, with support for up to 32 participants.
However, some users may receive a different message stating that video calling is limited to 16 participants.
This update also introduces the option to share screen content during video calls, a feature previously announced in the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2322.1.0 update.
Additionally, some beta testers may gain access to video messages with the latest app update.
WhatsApp is expanding its video calling capabilities for Windows PC users.
The latest update allows beta testers to engage in video calls with up to 32 participants.
Initially, this feature is available to select beta testers who have installed the recent WhatsApp beta for Windows update. It will gradually be released to a wider user base.
This development follows Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement in November of plans to introduce video calling for Android and iOS users.
Additionally, WhatsApp has been testing a screen-sharing feature for video calls among some beta testers on Windows.
This feature enables participants to share specific windows or their entire screens, enhancing collaboration during video calls.
Users can share presentations, documents, or other content, making video calls more interactive and productive.
This feature is currently being rolled out to beta testers, providing them with the ability to make video calls to both contacts and groups directly from the Windows app.
The update also introduces screen-sharing functionality and potential access to video messages.
With these enhancements, WhatsApp aims to enhance the user experience and facilitate more seamless communication among its Windows PC users.
