From Food Concern to Protein Pantry

A simple question about the ingredients in their favourite food sparked a startup journey for a Delhi couple, inspiring them to create a healthier, protein-rich alternative without compromising on taste.

Prashant and Disha loved eating soya chaap. However, reports of fake chaap being made with refined wheat flour made them question its ingredients.

Their concern became more personal when family members fell ill, and doctors recommended increasing their protein intake.

Instead of giving up on chaap, the couple decided to make their own version. They spent nearly eight to nine months experimenting in their kitchen. Each trial focused on improving both taste and nutritional value.

Their efforts eventually led to the creation of Protein Pantry. The startup makes its chaap using wheat protein, soy flour and rava.

The couple wanted to create a product they could trust and confidently serve to their own family.

What began as a kitchen experiment soon developed into a business. The product retained the smoky, juicy and spice-rich character that chaap lovers enjoy.

At the same time, it offered a higher-protein alternative.

The idea gradually attracted customers beyond their immediate circle. Today, Protein Pantry has served more than 30,000 customers, turning the couple’s personal food concern into a growing startup.

For Prashant and Disha, building Protein Pantry was never just about starting another food brand.

It was about solving a personal concern by making a familiar favourite healthier and more nutritious without compromising its taste, texture or appeal.

Their journey highlights how everyday problems can become meaningful business opportunities when founders take the initiative to create solutions themselves.
