WhatsApp’s new AI features and widget update
WhatsApp continues to innovate by introducing new AI-driven features for Android users.
The latest beta updates bring two exciting additions for WhatsApp users.
One is a home screen widget for quick AI chatbot access, and the other is an AI-powered tool for generating group icons.
These enhancements aim to simplify interactions and offer more personalization to users.
A select group of beta testers using Android version 2.25.6.10 can now create group icons with the help of Meta AI.
When editing a group image, users will notice a new option labelled Create AI Image.
This feature allows them to enter a prompt and generate multiple AI-generated images for their group icon.
Once a user selects this option, a Meta AI prompt screen appears, enabling customization.
The AI then produces several images based on the given prompt, offering a more dynamic way to personalize group chats.
This feature is currently in the testing phase and will eventually be available for all users.
Another significant addition in the Android 2.25.6.14 beta update is a home screen widget. This new shortcut eliminates the need to open WhatsApp to access Meta AI.
The widget includes three options. They are Ask Meta AI, Camera, and Voice. They provide multiple ways to interact with the chatbot.
Some users have reported seeing only a compact version of the widget, which displays the Ask Meta AI button.
This shortcut directly opens the chat window, allowing users to type queries or use voice and camera inputs.
Currently, only beta testers can access these features, but a wider rollout is expected for both Android and iOS users.
Until then, those on stable versions must continue accessing Meta AI through the floating action button (FAB) within WhatsApp.
With these updates, WhatsApp is further integrating AI into its platform, enhancing convenience and customization for users.
