Opposition demands ban on Putrajeevak Beej
The sex ratio in the country is worrisome. While Government is trying its best to balance the sex ratio by introducing several schemes like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ to encourage the birth of female children, people who want a male child always seek alternate ways. In this male dominated world, many couples still prefer to have a male child. Though the views of some people in the society have been changing over the time, majority of people do not treat male and female children equally. Discrimination is seen everywhere.
In this scenario, people seek ways to have a male child. Using medicines and herbs, eating certain foods and following certain dates are some of them. Though it is unsure whether or not it works, an Ayurvedic product “Putrajeevak Beej” promises the delivery of a male child as per opposition parties. The product is available in the store of Yoga guru Ramdev, “the brand ambassador of Haryana”.
The opposition members raised this point yesterday in Rajya Sabha saying selling this product is illegal and against the constitution. They sought ban on this product and further action to be taken on the seller. Health minister J P Nadda said that the issue is serious. However, the opposition was not satisfied with the words of health minister questioning whether the prime minister of India would approve this. They demanded an immediate action. However, fans of Baba Ramdev concluded that it is the name of the product and the drug store never assured that the use of product helps in getting a male child.
