Lord Ganesh or Vinayaka is one of the most powerful Hindu gods. There are many well-known Ganesh temples across the country. Here is one unique temple of Lord Ganesh.

Lakshmi Ganapathi temple in Bikkavolu has many specialities. The temple is situated in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. It is located at 33 Km from Kakinada and 40 Km from Rajahmundry.

This temple is also known as Sri Golingeswara Swami Temple and Siddhi Vinayaka temple.

The idol was found as a Swayambhu or self-incarnation to a farmer as it was found in the agricultural fields when the farmer was ploughing the field.


The idol of Lord Ganesh is a monolithic statue. Here the God is known as Vijayanand Ganapathi. It is believed that the Chalukya Kings installed it.

As per the legends, King Gunaga Vijayaditya used to offer prayers to the god before and after the battle. He won many battles.

Hence many devotees visit this temple wishing success in their attempts or before commencing a new venture. Devotees tell their wish in the ears of the Lord believing they will be granted.

The idol is 11 feet tall. It is believed that the idol is increasing in size by a few inches each year. Nobody knows the base and depth of the idol in the underground.

It is said that initially, the idol of the Lord was very small and in the size of a coconut, but now it has grown to a few feet tall. The height varies each year due to the increase in size.

Here the trunk of the deity turns towards the south. Another unique feature is that water originates from the bottom portion of the left leg of the deity.
