Railways to operate Festival special trains | Fusion - WeRIndia

As the festive season is approaching, several people are preparing to visit their home places.

Considering the demand from the passengers, Indian Railways decided to operate Festival Special trains. They are superfast trains and will be operated at a minimum speed.

Railways will operate as many as 392 or 196 pairs of special trains from October 20 to November 30 to cater to the needs of rail passengers.

Most of these special trains will be equipped with third AC coaches. Special fares will be applicable for these trains.

Railways witnesses a huge rush each year during the festive season. It is quite common for the Railways to operate festival special trains also to meet it.

However, due to COVID-19, many people avoided journeys as much as possible. Also, most of them prefer their own vehicles.

But, it is not possible to travel to long distances in their own vehicles. So, some people are using flight services while some others are travelling in trains.

The passenger base is slowly increasing. In this context, the demand may increase in the coming festive season. Railways expects a steep rise in demand in the coming days.

Hence, Railways decided to operate special trains to meet the demands of the passengers.

These special trains will be operated to various destinations like Kolkata, Varanasi, Patna, Lucknow etc.

The schedule and timing of these trains will be notified by the officials soon.

Railways suspended the operations of regular trains during the lockdown. After that, it slowly resumed its operations.

It operates different trains as per the need and demand. It stated that around 300 trains are running across the country.

The special trains will be operated only during the festive season and at a speed of 55 kmph.
