Delhi government issues work from home orders
In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases, the Delhi government is taking several steps to control the gathering of people. Earlier, it reduced the maximum number of guests for a wedding event. Now, the government issued work-from-home (WFH) orders for non-essential service employees.
However, employees of essential services like health, police, water, fire, electricity, municipalities and any such service, will have to attend offices due to their need to the public.
As per the latest order issued by the Delhi government, private offices have to reduce the number of employees attend to the office as much as possible.
It suggested employees associated with non-essential services to work from home to follow COVID-19 protocols and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
All the government offices, public sector undertakings, autonomous bodies etc. with officers of grade-one level and above will work with their full capacity. But, the remaining offices will work only with limited staff. Employees lower than grade-one level shall attend the offices as required. That means only required staff up to 50 per cent have to attend offices till December 31 or the next order of the government. The Delhi government’s order applies to employees of non-essential services.
The department heads will decide the requirement of staff and implement the order of the government accordingly. They will prepare a list with scheduled timings and required personnel. Employees will have to follow it.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) issued the above order in the national capital considering the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the past few days.
The government believes that this measure is essential for maintaining social distancing. It is one of the vital measures to control the spread of COVID-19.
