Karru Ramachandra Reddy – A light in the dark

Karru Ramachandra Reddy

Karru Ramachandra Reddy who hails from a poor family in Guntur was born blind. He studied in a government school for visually impaired. Throughout his life, he observed that people sympathize with disabled people but do not create awareness among them. Keeping this in mind, he helped his fellow peers with studies. He did his graduation, and post-graduation from Osmania University. After his LLB, he started a career as a teacher.

Whenever he could, he would motivate blind people by conducting special classes for them. He created awareness in them and taught them the importance of education. In order to help more blind people study well, he quit his job and started a school for the visually impaired. The school was started in rented building with five students. Even though many more students joined later, Ramachandra Reddy taught them for free.

His services gained a reputation and many volunteers helped in the construction of a building for the school. He provides boarding for students in this building. At present, there are more than 50 students here. These students are also taught extra skills after studies. His aim is to make sure that these students do not have to depend on others and have successful careers.
