The inspiring journey of a woman, from village to PhD

In the remote village of Nagulaguddam, located in Anantapur district, a small petal shed at the end of the village witnessed a heartwarming celebration.

Bharti, who had always worked alongside her fellow villagers, had achieved an incredible feat, she became a doctor.

The crowd gathered to celebrate her success, marvelling at how she mastered chemistry without any coaching or extra classes.

Bharti’s unwavering determination in her pursuit of education had been evident from the beginning.

During the graduation ceremony at Sri Krishnadevaraya University in Anantapur City, Bharti proudly stood on stage with her husband and daughter to receive her PhD degree.

The sight of her simple attire with paragon sandals and a plain saree surprised the elders and guests, who saw her as a symbol of triumph over poverty’s obstacles. Despite her remarkable achievements, Bharti remained humble and devoid of pride.

From a young age, Bharti had a strong desire to pursue education. She completed her schooling at Shinganamala Government School and her intermediate studies at Pamidi Junior College.

However, her family’s financial situation and responsibilities led her to marry her uncle, Shivprasad. Although she had dreams for her future, she hesitated to share them with her husband.

Fortunately, Shivprasad understood her aspirations and encouraged her to continue her studies. Bharti saw this as an opportunity to improve their lives.

The financial struggles were evident, but Bharti persevered. She pursued her degree and post-graduation at Anantapur while taking care of her daughter. Bharti also did labor work to meet her family’s financial needs.

Amidst these challenges, Bharti devoted long hours to studying, burning the midnight oil and waking up early to study before the day began. Commuting to college was expensive, so she walked eight kilometres to Garladinne and took a bus from there, all to pursue her education.

Bharti’s hard work and dedication paid off as she completed her degree and post-graduation with excellent marks. Both her husband and her teacher recognized her potential and encouraged her to consider a PhD. She was offered an opportunity to conduct research under the guidance of Professor Dr MCS Shubha, and the stipend she received eased some financial burdens.

However, Bharti didn’t stop there; she continued to work tirelessly. She believed that obtaining a PhD would open doors for a job at the university level, thereby improving their lives and allowing her to share knowledge with others.

Bharti’s life journey is truly inspiring and serves as a testament to the power of determination and perseverance in the face of challenges.

Her achievements not only impact her life but also inspire and motivate countless others to dream big and strive for success, no matter the circumstances.
