In a world where fast food has become the norm, two mothers from different parts of India came together with a common goal. They wished to provide healthy and nutritious food to their children.

Dibyajyoti Borgohain and Madhavi Pomar, the founders of Rigdam Foods, have dedicated themselves to providing quality food products made from millets.

Rigdam Foods was established in 2014. Dibyajyoti and Madhavi realised the importance of healthy eating habits, particularly for children. They also understood the need for an alternative to the unhealthy fast foods that have become so popular.

Millets, a traditional crop that was on the verge of extinction, caught their attention. After learning about the numerous health benefits of millets, they decided to focus their efforts on creating a range of products. At the same time, they wished to offer products that are nutritious, tasty, and affordable.

Rigdam Foods has been incubated under various research institutes, including the Agri Innovation Platform – ICRISAT.

The venture has collaborated with farmers to produce millets and other ingredients. It is also associated with third-party manufacturers for production to keep the costs low.

All products are hygienic and safe and use 20-25% less oil than other fast foods. Rigdam snacks are priced between ₹10 and ₹50. So, they are accessible and affordable for all.

Malnutrition is a significant problem in children in the country. Unhealthy eating habits made the problem worse.

Rigdam Foods aims to combat malnutrition by offering a range of nutritious food products made from millets. Millets are rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates, dietary fibre, calcium, zinc, and iron.

Rigdam’s products include choco balls, biscuits, breakfast bars, Nutri bars, and more, all made from millets. These products are an excellent alternative to unhealthy fast foods.

Customer satisfaction is a top priority for Rigdam Foods. So far, the startup has served over 20,000 customers.

Rigdam Foods has shown promising results with a turnover of over ₹24 lahks in 2022. The founders are dedicated to reaching more people, particularly in the International Year of Millets, i.e., 2023.

They hope to raise awareness about the benefits of millets and the importance of healthy eating habits. By providing affordable and accessible healthy food options, Rigdam Foods is taking a step towards tackling malnutrition and promoting healthy eating habits.
