Things to know about Republic Day Tableaux
Republic Day is approaching. The main attraction for the day is the parade. Various states display their tableaux at the parade.
This year’s Republic Day parade will have 21 tableaux from various states, UTs, ministries of the central government, and others.
As the tableaux from West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala have been rejected, they asked to consider including them.
In this context, here are some important things to know about Republic Day Tableaux:
- To commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, the government announced this year’s theme as India@75. It will be the theme for this year’s Republic Day parade. Defence Ministry is the coordinating body for the Tableaux at the parade. An expert committee is formed from famous personalities from different fields to select tableaux for the Republic Day parade.
- The Defence Ministry shares guidelines with the participants and the committee. States, UTs, ministries of the central government, and independent institutions have to submit their proposals by September 27.
- The committee shortlists some of them. The shortlisting process starts in the second week of October.
- The committee will hold around six to seven rounds of meetings to shortlist and select the final tableaux. It follows the guidelines of the Defence Ministry for the selection process.
- This year, it received 56 proposals from states, UTs, and others. Out of them, 21 were shortlisted for the parade.
- Each year, a certain number of tableaux from states and others are selected to display at the Republic Day parade.
- So, every year, proposals from some states are rejected. Last year also, proposals for tableaux from West Bengal, Maharashtra, Kerala and Bihar were rejected.
