Republic Day 2026: Vande Mataram at 150 | Fusion - WeRIndia

India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The occasion marks the adoption of the Constitution in 1950.

It reflects India’s sovereign and democratic foundations. Therefore, the day reaffirms justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity.

The annual parade remains the centrepiece of national celebrations.

This year’s theme is “150 Years of Vande Mataram.” The theme commemorates the national song by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Moreover, it places the song at the heart of the celebrations. The theme runs across the parade, tableaux, and cultural programmes.

Consequently, it connects freedom with cultural expression and collective memory.

The Republic Day parade will feature 30 tableaux. These will represent states, union territories, and central ministries.

Additionally, the displays will highlight India’s cultural diversity and development journey. Cultural performances will add vibrancy to the event.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army will showcase a “Battle Array” format, reflecting operational readiness and strength.

The chief guests underline India’s expanding global engagement. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, will attend the celebrations.

Alongside him will be Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Their presence highlights growing India-European Union cooperation. This partnership focuses on trade, technology, and climate action.

Around 10,000 special guests will witness the parade. They represent diverse fields and regions. Notably, they include athletes, farmers, scientists, innovators, and artisans.

The initiative aims to strengthen Jan Bhagidari. It also honours contributions to nation-building at every level.

The guest list reflects grassroots inclusion and excellence. It features natural farming practitioners and beneficiaries of agricultural missions.

Transgenders rehabilitated under PM SMILE are invited. MAITRI technicians supporting animal husbandry will attend. Women producers, SHG leaders, and rural entrepreneurs are also recognised.

Science, innovation, and industry receive strong emphasis. Scientists from ISRO, DRDO, and the Deep Ocean Mission are included.

Start-ups under semiconductor, biotechnology, and green hydrogen missions will participate. Students from Atal Tinkering Laboratories are invited. Researchers and IP holders are also honoured.

Community service and social welfare remain central. Anganwadi workers, Jal Jeevan Mission beneficiaries, and water warriors will attend.

Disaster responders, BRO workers, and panchayat leaders are recognised. Guests will also visit the National War Memorial and PM Sangrahalay. Thus, Republic Day 2026 blends heritage, participation, and progress.
