Church attack number from UPA match those under NDA
The government of Narendra Modi has already faced a lot of criticism for the attacks on churches and Christian institutions. The crime records from the UPA government have shown that there were a matching number of such attacks between May 2013 and March 2014. It is also found that 50 per cent of those cases were unsolved.
There have been ten cases of alleged anti-Christian attacks between May 26, 2013, and March 31, 2014, back when UPA was in power. Whereas nine were instances of church vandalization, one associated with a pastor’s murder. Of those ten cases reported from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, geographical region, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, 5 stay undetected while in four cases, sixteen persons were arrested. An illogical person was found to be accountable in one case.
In comparison, between the installation of the Modi government on May 26, 2014, and March 31, 2015, eleven cases were reported. Of these, six incidents relate to Delhi and one each to West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharasthra, Kerala and Haryana. In 2 separate cases of fire at a church in East Delhi and Rohini, a short-circuit was found to be the cause. The Jasola church attack has been blamed on an unintentional throwing of a stone by a boy. Four cases were investigated which resulted in the arrest of fourteen persons. 2 of 3 cases haven’t nonetheless been solved and are suspected to be that of burglary.
