Solar car designed by a 63 year old
Syed Sajjad Ahmed, a 63 year old man stood above those around him with his passion for innovation and bringing a social change. At an age when many people choose to retire and take rest, he chose a different route for the sake of social change.
He is a school dropout, however he made a solar powered vehicle. With his self-made vehicle, he is all set to go on a journey to Delhi. He is doing this journey at this age just to spread a message about a pollution free India.
Ahmed is a native of Kolar but he migrated to Bengaluru 15 years ago. Now he plans to go a distance of 1,740 kilometers in his journey. He is set to start from Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru and go till Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. He started the campaign on Sunday.
Around 20 years ago, he started selling fruits to barely make a living. However, his passion helped him rise up as he gradually built a shop. In this shop, he repaired radio and televisions. After that he started making television antenna. In 2004, he made a two wheeler with the experience he had. His passion for innovation continued and in 2004, Syed designed a solar-powered car in 2004.
He said that using the solar car he has gone to Chennai, Kochi and Kanyakumari. Now, he says that the car will run up to 100 km every day. Syed is dedicating his Delhi trip to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam whom he considers his hero and idolizes. Syed says that Kalam had inspired him to bring his dream to a reality.
He would drive through Hindupur, Ananthpur, Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Itarsi, Jhansi and Agra and reach Delhi and participate in the India International Science Fair in the first week of December.
