Where there is a will there is a way. This man proved it. Shrawan Kumar Bajya from Sikar district, Rajasthan has no technology degrees. Yet, he designed several innovations to help many farmers in the country.

Shrawan passed his class 10. But, he wanted to invent great machines to help the farmers.

Shrawan has been fascinated by machines since his childhood. That’s why he started working with bikes and experimented with spare parts.

It took two years to design his first machine. After many failures, he succeeded in creating a machine to act like a weeder.

His weeder is available at a cheaper price than the machines available in the market. It is priced at ₹5,000-65,000, whereas, other machines available in the market are priced at ₹1.5 lakh. He is working to update the machine for multipurpose use.

He designed various other machines also to help farmers. While designing machines, he keeps the finances of the farmers in mind so that they would be available at cheaper prices.

One of his remarkable innovations is a salt-turning device which is operated by a motorcycle.

He says that women labourers have to step into saline water in the salt-making process to break open sedimented layers of salt in hard water.

This strains them a lot and their health would be damaged.  But, his device helps minimize the risk as it turns the layers with minimal human contact.

Moreover, his machine can be operated with a motorcycle so it simplifies the work of women.

He received several awards including the President’s Award in 2017. He wants his son to continue his legacy by becoming an engineer to serve the community better than him.
