Korauna Has No Connection With Coronavirus

The novel coronavirus is trembling the world as people are scared when they hear the name.

In this situation, a village in Uttar Pradesh is horrifying people with its name.

Korauna is a small village in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. It is located at around 90 km from Lucknow. Around 9,000 villagers are residing here. The village has a primary school and other facilities.

The name of the village sounds like the deadly coronavirus; hence the villagers are facing troubles.


Korauna is the first stop of the 84-Kosi Parikrama which is held a fortnight after Holi. Each year, thousands of people gather to participate in this parikrama.

Now the residents have been facing discrimination since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic due to the name of their village. They are also being accused of the unknown crime by other villagers. People in other villages are avoiding them when they say that they are from Korauna.

Even the relatives of the village are making fun of its name. They say that they would not come to ‘corona’.

People are not in a position to understand that it is a village and it has no connection with the contagious virus. Some people are laughing at the villagers when they hear the name.

Some other people are scared, and they are not answering phone calls of the villagers. When they say that they are calling from Korauna, the phone calls are being disconnected immediately thinking that they are playing pranks.

Some others are questioning how they are still alive when they come from Korauna.

Even the police feel unsettled when they learn where these villagers are headed to.
