India boasts one of the wealthiest villages in the world in terms of bank deposits, and it can be found in the Kutch district of Gujarat.

Known as Madhapar village, it is home to approximately 7,600 houses and 17 banks, with most of the house owners residing in the UK, USA, Canada, and other parts of the globe.

Located in the Kutch district of Gujarat, Madhapar village experienced a transformation into a hi-tech village during the technology boom of the 1990s.

The majority of the village’s population consists of Non-Residential Indians (NRIs), accounting for more than 65% of the total population.

These NRIs have contributed to the development of Madhapar village by earning money abroad and depositing it in the village.

Over the past two decades, Gujarat has undergone significant development. This village stands out for its exceptional hotels, intelligent residents, and the pervasive influence of technology, making it renowned for hosting major meetings.

Madhapar village in Gujarat holds the distinction of being the richest village in the world in terms of bank deposits.

Each resident has a bank deposit of approximately ₹15 lakhs. Despite living abroad, the villagers prefer to deposit their money in the local banks.  They collectively hold deposits worth over ₹5,000 crores and serve as a testament to the importance of maintaining their roots while living abroad.

Agriculture plays a crucial role in the village’s prosperity, with a significant portion of the agricultural goods being exported to Mumbai.

The village benefits from modern amenities, including healthcare facilities and large dams. It has schools, colleges, healthcare centres, dams, and many more.

With over 7,600 solidly constructed houses, along with lakes and dams, the availability of freshwater is ensured throughout the year.

In 1968, the Madhapar Village Association was formed by migrants living outside India.

Its purpose was to enhance the village’s image abroad and foster connections among its people. Additionally, it aimed to unite the UK Madhapar community and preserve their traditions.

Madhapar village stands as a testament to the wealth generated by its residents abroad and their dedication to their roots, resulting in the village’s remarkable prosperity and development.
