Genesis Foundation Trust supports Poor Children
Prema and Jyoti Sagar has started the Genesis foundation, a non-profit trust established in 2001. The foundation was started when the founders Prema and Jyoti Sagar encountered two children – Sheela and Ravi.
Prema and Jyoti, who have recently lost their children, took charge of the medical condition of Sheela and Ravi. That was the beginning of the Genesis foundation.
They provide financial assistance for children from orphanages and underprivileged families who are in life threatening and crucial situations requiring medical interventions.
In order to be eligible for the assistance, the children have to be orphans or the family income must be less than Rs. 7000 per month. The age of the children must be less than 16.
The primary focus of the trust is on cancer, cardiac disorder, post organ transplant care, thalassemia, and extreme physical deformities. The organization raises required resources and accesses networks to help the children meet their needs.
The fund raising events of the trust usually involved music, art, and cuisine. In these events, they gather the support of various companies in the form of donations and participation of companies’ executives in the events.
To this day, Genesis Foundation has saved the lives of more than 500 children who needed medical intervention. The foundation states that all of the donations go towards the treatment of ill children as the overhead costs are borne by the trustees.
