Wearing a face mask essential if driving alone?
Wearing a face mask is essential when you are outside. Officials are strictly enforcing this rule in many cities. Even car drivers going alone, are asked to wear a face mask.
Despite the arguments of vehicle drivers, officials do not care for them. If vehicle drivers are caught without a mask, they are forced to pay a fine even though they are travelling alone.
The purpose of wearing a face mask or cover is not to spread virus transmission to others when you are in a crowd or public places. If you are alone, then there is no chance of spreading the infection to others and no point in wearing a face mask.
The central government yesterday clarified that it did not issue any guidelines mandating the use of masks if people are driving a car alone.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that it is essential to wear masks when cycling or jogging in groups, but, there are no directions from the Health Ministry on wearing masks if someone is cycling or jogging alone.
Many people complained about being questioned for not wearing a face mask in their cars when driving alone.
In this context, Bhushan said that the Health Ministry did not issue any guidelines on wearing a mask when a person is driving a car or riding a cycle alone. However, if two or more people are cycling or jogging in a group, then wearing a face mask is essential to avoid spreading of coronavirus infection to others. You must also maintain social distancing.
