In order to maintain safety on sensitive routes, the railways have decided to start a security measure to video record passengers of trains on those sensitive routes.

The recording will be done at the time of boarding as part of strengthening security measures.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu stated that their efforts are to provide security escorts in all sensitive trains.

They have already started the process of videography of all passengers in some selected trains so that it is possible to know who are all travelling in these trains.

He further added that they are also planning to install CCTVs in coaches in order to monitor the situation inside.

The minister stated that they are looking for suitable land for setting up a commando training centre for RPF personnel who will be required in Maoist-affected areas.

In order to give more security for passengers – especially women – the railway minister stated that there will be a separate Mahilka Vahini which will be created soon.

At present, there are 1,400 women in RPF and 1,000 more are being planned to be inducted shortly.

They have sanctioned R 48 crore for construction of separate barracks for women RPF personnel. The RPF will construct 12 barracks for its women wing.
