Although some passengers believe carrying sealed bottles for personal use might be permitted, Indian Railways’ rules clearly forbid it.

Even if the liquor is purchased legally from a licensed shop, it cannot be transported on passenger trains.

Authorities may confiscate such bottles during security checks, and violators may face penalties under railway and excise laws.

Therefore, travellers are advised to avoid carrying liquor while boarding trains.

Instead, they should follow the guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.

After all, maintaining discipline and safety on board is everyone’s responsibility.

While Indian Railways offers comfort, affordability, and higher baggage allowance, it draws a strict line when it comes to alcohol.

Passengers planning trips during the festive season should keep this rule in mind to avoid inconvenience or fines that may go up to ₹500 or more, depending on the violation.
