WiFi in 400 Railway stations

Next time, whether you are waiting for a train at a railway station to travel or waiting for your family member or friend to receive, you don’t have to get bored, as WiFi connectivity is now available at the station. Indian Railways is mulling to provide WiFis in as many as 400 stations. So, the travelers or passengers who are waiting for the trains in these stations can connect with the world.

Railways already provided high speed WiFis in some stations. Satisfied by the performance of these stations and positive responses from the passengers it extends its WiFi services to some more railway stations with the help of tech giants.

Indian Railways will provide WiFi in 400 railway stations by next year. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu yesterday stated that they are tying up with Google to provide WiFi services at 400 railways stations throughout the country which is expected to be finished by next year. The work already started with Mumbai Central Station. The tech giant agreed to tie up in this regard.

He added that these will be the fastest public WiFis in the world and the WiFis at Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar stations have proven the speed capabilities already.

The Railway Minister said that in addition to Google, WiFi at some other railway stations was provided with the help of other operators also. He added that many of issues related to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal have discussed with Maharashtra Chief Minister on April 21 which have been resolved. It is proposed to have seven buildings at the Terminal out of which one is central dome and six other buildings. A statue of Shivaji will also be there. The Ministry is considering to take steps to connect both Western and Central Railways with an underground tunnel. He assured that a unique initiative is taken under which passengers who have e-tickets can travel by Metro, BEST buses and taxis.
