MHA to announce Unlock 4.0 Guidelines soon

Currently, the Unlock 3.0 phase is going on in the country. It will end on August 31.

The Unlock 4.0 phase will begin from September 1. The Ministry of Home Affairs will announce the Unlock 4.0 guidelines soon. They are expected to be issued in this week.

As per sources, schools and college remain closed. They will not be reopened immediately, but discussions are going on allowing higher educational institutions such as universities, IITs and IIMs to reopen. However, there is no confirmation as of now.

Bars could be allowed to sell liquor over the counter for takeaway in the Unlock 4.0 phase.


Metro services are likely to reopen from September 1. Soon, the MHA will issue the Unlock 4.0 guidelines in which prohibited activities will be announced like Unlock 3.0.

Except for the prohibited activities, the remaining can resume. However, the lockdown in containment zones will continue across the country.

Some of the prohibited activities in the Unlock 3.0 phase include Metro rail services, cinema halls, theatres, educational institutions, entertainment parks, swimming pools, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls etc.

Besides, large congregations of social, political, cultural, academic events are prohibited. This prohibition is likely to be continued in the next month.

The Centre asked all states to make sure to allow the smooth movement of goods among states. It also asked not to restrict the inter-state and intra-state movement of persons as well as goods.

Notably, some states are restricting the movement of people among the states and asking to take prior permission for such travels. In this context, the Centre asked not to restrict their movement as per the guidelines of Unlock 3.0.

The MHA on Saturday issued Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for travellers in the international flights under the Vande Bharat Mission.
