Unlock 4.0 Guidelines issued

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday issued guidelines for Unlock 4.0. These guidelines will be implemented from September 1 to September 30.

Lockdown will be continued only in containment zones till September 30.

As expected, the government allowed metro rail services. Metro trains will be operated from September 7. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will share the detailed SOP on the functioning and usage soon.

All congregations including social, political, cultural, academic, sports and entertainment gatherings will be permitted with a maximum of 100 people from September 21.

No states and union territories shall impose any lockdown intra-state and inter-state, except in containment zones, without consulting the Centre.

There will be no restriction on the movement of people or vehicle across districts or any other regions.

Schools and colleges remain closed. However, students of classes 9 to 12 may be allowed to visit their schools voluntarily from September 21.

Only students outside the containment zones are allowed for taking guidance and directions from their teachers. However, parents or guardians have to give their written consent for this.

50 per cent of teaching and non-teaching may be permitted to school for online teaching and other related work.

This fourth phase of Unlock is seen as crucial because several activities will be resumed in this phase despite the country records the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

In September, several exams like JEE and NEET will take place. JEE (Mains) will be held from September 1 to September 6. NEET will be held on September 13. Besides, as per the rules of UGC, several colleges and universities will conduct final year examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students. So, this month will be full of exams.

Due to exams, the public transport including metro and local trains will be functioning at the maximum capacity. Hence, it will be vital to ensure that all precautions are taken.
