Indians now don’t need airport transit visa in France
Although some options for traveling abroad may seem to be tightening as of late, Indians can be glad to hear that France is not one of them.
In fact, an announcement was recently posted on Twitter by Alexandre Ziegler, the Ambassador of France to India.
Ziegler said that people who hold Indian passports no longer require an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) when transiting through the international zone of any French airport.
This law is in effect from July 23rd, 2018. Now, Indians will be able to travel to France by airplane much more freely than they were able to do before.
For the people who are only transiting through the Schengen territory, an airport transit visa is applicable. The people who are applicable for this airport transit visa must also not leave the transit area of the airport.
However, although the airport no longer requires people with Indian passports to have airport transit visas, this does not account for other accommodations outside of the transit area of the airport. Hotel accommodations are only available outside of the transit area.
Therefore, people would need to have regular tourist visas if they want to stay overnight in a hotel.
Two types of a transit visa under the Uniform Schengen visa group have a certain purpose. These types of transit visa are destined for travelers who have to pass by a Schengen member country in order to reach their final destination.
The Schengen Area comprises 26 European states. France forms a part of the Schengen Area. These countries have officially abolished passports and all other types of border control at their borders. Now, France has taken a step to open itself up a bit more to India as well.
This new law will allow France-bound Indians to have an easier time coming into the country, and it will also give them one less thing to worry about.
