PM to launch Shivamogga Airport today
Ahead of the Assembly Elections in Karnataka, the BJP-led state government announced the launching of various development projects in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch Shivamogga airport in Karnataka today. After that, he will launch many other development projects also. Shivamogga airport, which has been built recently, will be launched by PM Modi today.
PM’s aircraft will be the first one to land at Shivamogga airport. While launching the airport, Modi will inspect the airport by walking through the airport.
In addition, Modi will launch many new projects in Shivamogga and Belagavi districts and lay the foundation stone for many projects, including smart city projects, rural water connectivity projects etc.
The PM will address the public after launching the airport. After that, PM Modi will release the amount of ₹16,000 as part of the 13th instalment of PM-KISAN. After laying the foundation stone for various projects, PM Modi will leave for Belagavi to launch various projects there.
The central government built the Shivamogga airport has been built under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagarik) scheme.
It is the ninth airport in Karnataka. The airport has been built on 775 acres. It has the following features: A terminal building, fire station building, ATC tower, taxiway, approach road, compound wall etc. This airport will be the second-largest international airport in Karnataka.
The first-largest international airport in the state is Bengaluru airport. Besides, the airport has the second-largest runway in the state.
As per a few sources, the name of the airport will be Kuvempu, a famous poet in the state. The cost of the airport is nearly ₹450 crores.
The lotus-shaped Passenger Terminal Building has a high-tech check-in system for the hassle-free movement of passengers.
The airport has the capability of handling 300 passengers per hour. Also, the airport will improve the connectivity between Shivamogga and adjacent areas in Malnad.
