PM Modi unveils mega development push in Gujarat
Kicking off a major development drive, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Gujarat with the launch of projects worth ₹82,000 crore.
This marks his first visit to the state after Operation Sindoor. His first stop was Dahod, where he will inaugurate a Loco Manufacturing Shop-Rolling Stock Workshop.
Built at over ₹21,000 crore under the ‘Make in India’ push, the facility is a major step for local rail production.
He will also flag off the Somnath–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat train from here.
In Kharod, Dahod, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for railway and other infrastructure works worth ₹24,000 crore.
Additionally, he will launch four group water supply schemes costing ₹181 crore.
These will deliver clean water to 4.62 lakh people in 193 villages and one town in the Mahisagar and Dahod districts.
Later, Modi will reach Bhuj to launch and lay foundation stones for projects exceeding ₹53,000 crore.
These span solar power, road construction, port infrastructure at Kandla, and power transmission.
The projects will benefit eight districts, including Kutch, Jamnagar, and Gir Somnath.
In the evening, the Prime Minister will lead a 3 km-long roadshow from Ahmedabad Airport to Indira Bridge.
Over 50,000 BJP workers and locals will participate in this programme. He will stay overnight at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.
On May 27, he will begin with another roadshow, this time 2 km in Gandhinagar, and will be welcomed by 30,000 BJP supporters.
At Mahatma Mandir, he will launch projects worth ₹5,536 crore. Key highlights include the inauguration of 22,055 houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for ₹1,006 crore.
He will also lay the foundation for Phase 3 of the Sabarmati Riverfront at a cost of ₹1,000 crore.
To support urban governance, Modi will distribute ₹3,300 crore in cheques to local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
The visit underlines a strong focus on infrastructure, housing, water, and urban development across Gujarat.
