India surpasses Turkey in COVID-19 count
With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases day by day, India climbed to the ninth position in global coronavirus count.
In other words, India is the ninth worst-hit country in the world by COVID-19 with 1,65,799 as on Friday.
This number includes foreigners as well. With this, India surpassed Turkey that was in ninth position in global COVID-19 tally.
The total number of COVID-19 cases crossed 1.65 lakhs on Friday. India has been recording the highest single-day spike for the last many days. Yesterday also, more than 7,466 cases had been reported in the country.
Despite the implementation of the lockdown in the country, the number of cases is rising.
Yet, the consoling fact is that the recovery rate has also improved to 42.89 per cent as per the government report.
The number of active cases in the country is 89,987. The officials said that 71,105 people have been cured so far. Among them, the cured patients in the last 24 hours are 3,414. The recovery rate in the country has been improved with these cured patients.
At the same time, 175 people died due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours making the death toll 4,706. However, the government website says that comorbidities are the main reason for more than 70 per cent of the deaths.
Maharashtra has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country followed by Tamil Nadu. Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan are in the next three places.
Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are in the next two places with 7,453 and 7,170 cases.
The least number of cases have been reported in Mizoram and Sikkim with each one. Dadar and Nagar Haveli has two cases while Arunachal Pradesh reported three cases.
