Lockdown 5.0 Guidelines

Ministry of Home Affairs issued fresh guidelines for lockdown 5.0. It is extended till June 30 which is applicable only in containment zones.

States decide these containment zones based on the severity of COVID-19 in those areas. They can also impose proper restrictions on the allowed activities to control the coronavirus outbreak.

All activities outside containment zones will be allowed phase-wise for the next one month. However, night curfew will be continued from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Here the guidelines for lockdown 5.0:


  • The reopening will be in three phases. In the first phase, religious places, hotels, shopping malls will be opened starting from June 8.
  • Schools, colleges and other educational or training institutions will be opened in the second phase after the consultation with states and UTs. States and UTs can decide on it after consulting with parents and other stakeholders. The reopening of educational institutions will be decided in July.
  • The third phase of re-starting certain prohibited activities will be decided in August. These activities include re-opening of cinema halls, swimming pools, gymnasiums, theatres, entertainment parks, auditoriums, assembly halls etc. and resuming international air travel and metro operations.
  • Large congregations including religious, political, social, cultural, and academic gatherings shall remain to be prohibited till the third phase.
  • Both the inter-state and intra-state movement of persons have been allowed. No need of permission or e-permit is required for such movements. Yet, states can regulate the movement of persons if they think that such movements can affect public health.
  • Movement of passenger trains and Shramik special trains have been allowed. Domestic air travel will continue. The movement of Indian citizens stranded in other countries will also be allowed without any restriction.
  • No state or UT can stop the movement of goods or cargo as per the new guidelines.
  • The office goes will have to install the Aarogya Setu application on their mobile phones.
