FASTag annual pass gets slight price hike for 2026-27
India’s highway travel ecosystem continues to evolve with incremental policy changes aimed at efficiency and ease.
The National Highways Authority of India has announced a marginal increase in the FASTag Annual Pass fee. The cost will rise from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075 for the financial year 2026-27.
This revision will take effect from April 1, 2026. Officials stated that the update aligns with the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008.
The FASTag Annual Pass has gained strong traction since its launch on August 15, 2025. Currently, over 56 lakh users benefit from the scheme.
This growth highlights rising preference among private vehicle owners for seamless toll payments.
Moreover, the pass reduces the need for frequent recharges, making it a practical option for frequent travellers.
Under the scheme, users pay a one-time fee. In return, they can cross up to 200 toll plazas or use the pass for one year.
However, the facility applies only to non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag. Around 1,150 toll plazas across national highways and expressways support this system.
Activation remains quick and simple. Once users complete payment, the pass becomes active within two hours.
The system links directly to the existing FASTag on the vehicle. Furthermore, payments can be made through the Rajmarg Yatra App or the official NHAI website, ensuring accessibility.
The authority behind this initiative plays a crucial role in India’s infrastructure landscape. Established in 1988 and operational since 1995, NHAI manages highway development and maintenance.
It also oversees toll collection and major road expansion projects. Additionally, it works under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
India’s national highway network spans over 1.3 lakh kilometres. NHAI supervises a significant portion of this network.
Through continuous upgrades and new projects, it aims to improve connectivity and logistics efficiency.
The slight fee increase reflects policy alignment rather than a major cost shift. Meanwhile, the growing adoption of the FASTag Annual Pass indicates its value for regular highway users.
