India renames Ayushman Bharat Centres to Ayushman Arogya Mandir

In a landmark move aimed at fortifying the nation’s healthcare framework, the Indian government has decided to rebrand the existing Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres as Ayushman Arogya Mandir.

The Union Health Ministry has issued directives to all states and Union Territories, urging them to complete the rebranding process by the end of this year.

This strategic shift underscores a significant step toward realizing the vision of Ayushman India.

The National Health Mission (NHM) logo is mandated to be retained in the rebranded centres, ensuring continuity with the existing health infrastructure.

The rebranded AB-HWCs will sport a new tagline, Arogyam Parmam Dhanam. It reflects a commitment to elevating healthcare from addressing illness to promoting overall wellness.

The directive emphasizes replacing the current title ‘Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centre’ with the new name across all operationalized AB-HWCs.

To accommodate linguistic diversity, the letter specifies that if scripts other than Hindi or English are used for branding, the full title can be translated into the state language(s). Also, the tagline must be transliterated.

The financial implications of this rebranding effort are estimated at ₹3,000 per facility, a modest investment in advancing the overarching goals of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

States are instructed to upload photographs of the rebranded primary health facilities onto the AB-HWC portal post-rebranding.

Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, more than 1.6 lakh AB-HWCs have been successfully established over the last five years, receiving an impressive 219 crore footfalls.

These centres aim to provide comprehensive primary healthcare, encompassing maternal and child health services, along with free essential drugs and diagnostic services, accessible to the populace.

The achievements of the AB-HWCs are noteworthy. Besides, these centres have conducted more than 2.71 crore wellness sessions, contributing significantly to the health and well-being of the nation’s citizens.

This rebranding initiative is a pivotal step in amplifying the impact and reach of primary healthcare, aligning with the broader vision of a healthier and resilient India.
