Health insurance to doctors that treat coronavirus: Karnataka
The novel coronavirus cases have been rising in the country. Doctors are treating the patients even though they know that it is risky.
In this context, the Karnataka government is mulling to provide additional health insurance to doctors who treat COVID-19 cases and paramedics that work in the laboratories.
Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar announced this yesterday. The minister said that the government wanted to provide additional health insurance to health workers who are treating the COVID-19 cases and are working in the labs.
This matter was under discussion and the government would announce on this soon. He said that the health of health officials was the top priority of the government. Hence, even though there were some health schemes, the government wanted to provide extra health security to health officials.
The Health Department of the state prescribed certain guidelines to health workers who treat COVID-19 cases. He urged the doctors to follow them while treating patients diagnosed with coronavirus.
Doctors and paramedics who are working with COVID-19 cases have to wear masks to protect themselves. The minister also advised avoiding professional negligence.
Many people are buying masks even though they do not have symptoms. In this context, the minister said that public awareness is more essential than the masks.
There is no need of masks for the people who do not have the symptoms. Only, the people who have the symptoms of coronavirus should have to wear the mask compulsorily to avoid it spreading further to other people.
Earlier, coronavirus symptoms were reported in people who returned from other countries. But, now, it is being spread from the infected people to others as some fresh cases are being reported in the country.
In this context, the minister said that doctors need extra protection to save their lives. Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu said that three fresh cases of COVID-19 have been in the state; hence the patients and their family members had been quarantined.
