Health Benefits of Bhringraj oil
Bhringraj or false daisy belongs to the sunflower family. The plant mainly grows in moist places, including India, Thailand, and Brazil. It is widely used in Ayurveda to treat imbalances in the body.
Bhringraj is available in the form of a capsule or powder. The extract of leaves is used in herbal remedies.
Bhringraj oil is prepared by mixing the extract of bhringraj oil with a carrier oil like coconut oil. It strengthens and prevents premature greying. Several studies in mice showed that the oil can promote hair growth.
Here are the health benefits of bhringraj oil:
- Bhringraj oil is good for hair health. It prevents hair fall and other issues like dandruff, greying etc.
- The vitamin E in this oil fights free radicals. As the oil has anti-inflammatory properties, it can prevent psoriasis, itching, or other skin irritations on the scalp. The oil also improves blood circulation to the scalp.
- As bhringraj oil is loaded with many vitamins like D and E, and minerals like magnesium, iron, and calcium, it provides numerous health benefits.
- With its relaxant properties, the oil helps promote muscle relaxation. It induces sleep and also improves mood.
- The oil has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Hence it helps treat bacterial infections, especially urinary tract infections.
- The oil prevents headaches and migraines. It is also beneficial for skin-related issues like psoriasis, dermatitis and acne.
The juice of bhringraj has the following benefits:
- The juice of leaves is used as a liver tonic in Ayurveda for liver detoxification.
- Some studies showed that bhringraj when given with ashwagandha, improved the memory related to Alzheimer’s.
- It is effective in neutralizing the lethal effects of rattlesnake venom. However, it is better to consult a doctor before oral ingestion.
