Foods that can cause cancer
Carcinogens, which are the chemicals that can cause cancer, are known to be found in dangerous things such as tobacco, plutonium, and asbestos. However, many food items have been labeled as carcinogenic as well. These foods are very common in stores and homes, but they should be avoided at all costs.
They are all very harmful to human health and they can increase the risk of cancer. Therefore, it is vitally important to be aware of these foods and the dangers they can pose to people. Here is a list of the common foods that are most likely to cause cancer.
While fresh tomatoes are considered very good for health, canned tomatoes are much more dangerous. All canned foods are lined with a chemical called bisphenol-A (or BPA), which is absorbed by the tomatoes in the can. Exposure to BPA can increase risk of breast and prostate cancers, infertility, premature puberty, various metabolic disorders, and type 2 diabetes.
Hydrogenated oils, or saturated fats, can harmfully influence cell membranes and cause a higher risk of cancer. Stay especially clear of partially hydrogenated oils, or trans fats, which raises bad cholesterol and lowers good cholesterol.
Excessive consumption of dairy products can be especially dangerous for men, since calcium-rich products can lower the body’s production of 1.25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. This is a hormone that can protect men against prostate cancer.
Processed meats and most store-bought red meats contain various carcinogenic chemicals, such as sodium nitrates. For a healthier meat option, go for organic and hormone-free meats.
Many store-bought breads, baked goods, and starch-filled store products have a high content of potassium bromate, a natural carcinogen. Stick with organic and homemade starches for the healthiest option.
The dangers of refined sugars have been getting more and more well-known in recent times, and for good reason. Refined sugars can easily increase the risk of cancer, since cancerous cells grow more quickly by consuming fructose-rich artificial sweeteners such as high-fructose corn syrup.
Alcohol is one of the leading causes of several cancers, such as breast, mouth, esophagus, liver, rectum, and colon cancers. It poses little danger in small consumption amounts, but heavy drinkers have a high risk of getting cancer.
Saturated fats can increase the risk of breast cancer by up to 30%.
These are found in buttery foods, cheeses, fatty meats, and many other food items.
They can be eaten in small doses, but the overconsumption of saturated fats is very dangerous.
