Interesting Features of New IRCTC Website
In order to improve the experience of users, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) switched to a new website for e-ticketing from mid-June.
Initially it started a beta version on trial basis. However, several passengers responded positively on this new update from the IRCTC.
After getting positive feedback, it completely switched to the new version.
Here are some interesting features of new IRCTC website:
There is no need to login to check the availability of tickets while planning a tour. However, you have to login to your account to book the tickets.
You can see the transaction history on the website by going back and checking the date and time of the booking. It is beneficial when applying for leave travel concession if you misplace your ticket after your journey.
Vikalp feature helps the passengers to opt for a maximum of 7 alternate trains if their ticket is in waiting for their destination. The users can also change their boarding point.
The new website predicts the chances of getting a confirmed ticket even though you have a wait list or RAC ticket based on the historical data of the past two years. Hence, you can decide whether to opt for other alternate trains as well.
The new website allows search based on categories using the filters. So, you can search destination wise, quota wise, type-of-train wise or timing wise. You can view all the details including train name and number, distance between originating station and destination station, and arrival timing and departure at one place i.e. on a single screen.
Users of the website can now change the font size which is very helpful for the people with eye sight problems.
The new website facilitates easy transition between your mobile phone and computer. You can also switch between laptop and desktop.
