Now book tickets 30 mins before departure - Fusion - WeRIndia

In order to give more comfort to customers, the railways are now allowing passengers to book tickets online 30 minutes before the departure of the train. This option will be available starting from November 12. Furthermore, in order to help customers find even more ease, railways have launched another new feature. They made changes to the way they prepare the chart. From now, the chart will be prepared twice.

A reservation chart will be prepared four hours before the time of departure of the train. Another chart, which is the final chart will be prepared 30 minutes before the time of departure of the train. This has been confirmed by a senior Railway official.

The new rules by railways will allow booking on internet as well as reservation counters for any train. It will be based on the availability of berths even after the first reservation chart has been prepared.

From November 12, Railways has made it mandatory for the concerned department to finalize reservation chart for a train four hours before its departure. The railway official stated that this move will help passengers know the status of their ticket and plan their journey easily.

He added that this move will be help more passengers get tickets as they can have additional bookings even after the chart has been prepared. Before the departure of the train, a revised and final chart will be made. This will be given to the ticket checking staff onboard the train.

Railways is planning to use this option to maximize the usage of train accommodation and also the earnings of trains. The official from Railways stated that they have received several complaints regarding the finalization of reservation chart giving leeway for some illegal ticketing activities. He added, that the railways will strictly take care of the issue.
