Several income taxpayers file income tax returns to get their TDS refunded. However, what happened to TDS or how many days it might take to return are not known till you get the mail from income tax department.

But, do you know that you can track or check your refund status? It is a very easy and simple process.

There are two ways to check your income tax refund status. The first one is on the income tax e-filing portal and another one is on the NSDL or TIN website.

If you want to check the status of your IT refund on e-filing portal, then follow the below given process:

• First login to your e-filing account by furnishing the necessary details like PAN, password and date of birth. Then enter the given captcha code to proceed further.
• After login to your account, click on ‘View Returns/Forms’.
• Then choose the Income tax returns link from the given drop down menu. After that, choose the assessment year for which you want to track the refund state.
• You need to select the ITR acknowledgment number in the hyperlink.
• Then a pop-up appears; it shows your details like when the ITR was filed, when it was verified by the IT department and date of refund issue.
• It also displays the reason if the refund is cancelled, or the issuance of refund and mode of payment if the refund has been accepted and issued.

If you want to check the status on the NSDL website, then follow the below given process:

• The refund status is normally highlighted on the website after the refund has been issued to the taxpayer by sending it to the bank.
• You need to furnish your PAN details and assessment year for which you want to check the refund status in the hyperlink there.
• Then, you have to validate it by entering the captcha code and you will be proceeded to the refund status.
• A message will be flashed regarding your income tax refund status.
