Virasat Pune movement is launched to improve the cultural value of Pune. The aim of the moment is to conserve its rich heritage and culture. This is to improve the tourism prospects in order to generate revenue and improve employment to make the conservation of heritage a sustainable proposition.

They hold several events which value the culture of Pune. In the month of February, they are holding events on 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th.

In these festivals, the following activities are covered:

Heritage tours – It is a way to explore the land of legacy through Heritage walk.


Maratha History – This event covers the history of Maratha. It is called the great Maratha Tales. It is a great opportunity to learn more history.

The events also cover campus walks, Cinema Heritage, Nature, Landscapes, Dance, music and Theatre, workshops, Bus tour, Lectures, Defence Heritage, Exhibition which contains several great cultural objects, games and quizzes to offer sportsmanship and fun competitive spirit, photo walks, and cycle rides.

The Pune Heritage festival has successfully celebrated four editions. The 2016 festival marks its fifth year of culture and heritage spreading. This year, the festival is being organized by Janwani and INTACH-Pune Chapter. Furthermore, the nature of the event has attracted 34 associate organizations to help organize this festival. The festival is being spread over two weekends to make sure that more number of people can attend it.

This festival is a basically a celebration of the city. The festival also claims to have the only honor of being a festival which aims to increase civic pride and responsibility through a wider and better appreciation of the city’s valuable cultural and natural heritage.
