The inspiring journey of Das, from daily-wage laborer to paratha entrepreneur
In a remarkable tale of resilience and determination, Diganta Das has transformed his life from a daily wage labourer to a thriving paratha entrepreneur.
Das, hailing from Biswanath district’s Gohpur town in Assam, embarked on an extraordinary journey, from coal mine worker to cook and even a security guard.
Today, he stands as the proud owner of DFF- Daily Fresh Food, a venture that has popularized ready-to-eat parathas on the go.
Drawing inspiration from Kerala’s renowned Malabar parotta, Das’s parathas have become a sensation throughout Upper Assam.
His parathas are made from refined wheat flour, offering a delectable twist to the traditional lachha paratha made of wheat.
Das’s journey began in 2001, post-high school when financial constraints led him to work as a daily wage laborer in Arunachal Pradesh.
Over the years, he moved to coal mines in Meghalaya and even worked as a storekeeper in Assam.
It was during his stint as a cook in Assam’s Udalguri district that he discovered his culinary talent.
In 2008, Das sought new opportunities in Bengaluru, where he embarked on a career as a private security guard.
It was during this time that he learned valuable skills from friends and acquaintances, setting the stage for his entrepreneurial journey.
After various job experiences in Karnataka, Das returned to Assam in 2014 and got married.
A pivotal moment in his life occurred in 2017 when a high-voltage electric cable incident left him partially paralyzed.
It took him several years to recover, but his spirit remained unbroken.
After partially recovering, Das returned to Bengaluru and resumed working as a paratha maker.
A year before the onset of COVID-19, a close friend invited him to join a paratha-making venture in Vellore. It marked the beginning of his successful marketing journey.
Das later shifted to Andhra Pradesh, where he thrived in building a robust customer base for his friend’s paratha business.
This success prompted him to establish Daily Fresh Food in his hometown of Gohpur, Assam.
Diganta Das’s inspiring journey serves as a testament to his unwavering spirit and the boundless potential within the youth of Northeast India.
He invites fellow Northeasterns to return to the region, join him, and collectively seize the opportunities that lie close to home.
