Only a select few manage to crack the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, a highly competitive test. Here is a man who successfully cracked the exam.

Ram Bhajan rose from being a daily wage labourer to fulfilling his dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Hailing from the small village of Bapi in Rajasthan, Ram Bhajan Kumhara faced a life of hardship. He and his mother lived in meagre conditions, lacking even a proper house to call home.

However, Ram Bhajan’s determination and hard work paid off when he achieved a remarkable rank of 667 in the UPSC examination.


His journey is nothing short of inspiring. From his humble beginnings in a poverty-stricken village, Ram Bhajan worked as a daily labourer to make ends meet.

His daily routine involved breaking stones for long hours while his mother carried heavy weights to transport the stones they collected.

In his early days, he had to deliver approximately 25 cartons of stones each day, earning a meagre ₹5 to ₹10, barely enough to afford a single meal.

Despite these challenges, Ram Bhajan remained undeterred and persevered in his pursuit of a better future.

Ram Bhajan’s family-owned goats, and they tried to sustain themselves by selling the goats’ milk.

Unfortunately, their lives took a turn for the worse when Ram Bhajan’s father passed away due to asthma complications during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the loss of their primary income source, the family plunged deeper into poverty and had to rely solely on manual labour for survival.

However, Ram Bhajan’s determination to improve his circumstances never wavered.

He studied diligently and eventually secured a position as a constable in the Delhi Police. Despite being a constable, he never lost sight of his ultimate goal – to become an IAS officer.

After years of hard work and dedication, Ram Bhajan made multiple attempts at the UPSC examination.

Finally, on his eighth try, he achieved his dream by cracking the IAS examination in 2022.

His remarkable success not only fulfilled his aspirations but also lifted his family out of poverty.

Ram Bhajan’s journey from a daily wage labourer to an accomplished government officer serves as a beacon of hope and determination.

It showcases the power of perseverance and the potential to overcome adversities with unwavering focus and hard work.

His story is a testament to the belief that with determination and dedication, one can achieve even the loftiest of dreams.
