Sisters conquer the UPSC Together
Cracking the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer is no small feat. It demands relentless dedication and rigorous study hours.
Each year, thousands aspire to join the prestigious ranks of IAS, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service officers.
However, only a select few emerge victorious in this highly competitive three-part examination comprising the preliminary exam, main exam, and interview.
Here is an inspiring story of two sisters who achieved this remarkable feat together.
Meet Simran and Srishti, hailing from Delhi, who cracked the UPSC exam. In the year 2020, they etched their names in the annals of UPSC history by cracking the Civil Services exam.
Simran, the elder sibling, demonstrated unwavering determination by securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 474 on her third attempt.
In a stunning debut, the younger sister, Srishti, triumphed in her maiden endeavour, achieving an impressive AIR.
Both sisters share a background in economics and engineering. However, they chose to tread a different path, driven by their father Neeraj Kumar’s aspiration for them to excel in the civil service examinations conducted by UPSC.
Rather than pursuing lucrative careers in multinational corporations, the two sisters embarked on a shared journey of UPSC preparation.
Their modest home compelled them to study together in a nearby library. Their father earns his livelihood as a property worker, while their mother, Suman, diligently manages the household.
Simran dreams of representing the nation at the United Nations, a lofty ambition that reflects her passion for diplomacy and international affairs.
Meanwhile, Srishti pursued an undergraduate degree in Economics Honours at Delhi’s Shri Ram College of Commerce.
It was during her final year that she made the resolute decision to embark on the arduous UPSC preparation journey.
Their success story is not just about individual triumphs but also a testament to the power of familial support, shared aspirations, and unwavering dedication.
Simran and Srishti, through their remarkable journey, remind us that with resilience and a common goal, even the toughest of examinations can be conquered.
