AP father and son build the statue of PM using iron scrap
On the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several artists from the country crafted statues of the PM using various materials. Earlier, an Odisha-based artist made PM Modi’s statue using different types of food grains.
Similarly, a father and son duo from Andhra Pradesh also built the statue of PM Modi using iron scrap.
Katuri Venkateswara Rao and Ravichandra, renowned artisans from Tenali, made the statue of PM Modi on the occasion of his birthday. The duo runs Surya Silpasala in Tenali. They are popular for making sculptures and statues using discarded material like iron scrap, nuts, bolts etc. They have been doing this work for over a decade. They exhibited their sculptures in various countries, including Singapore and Malaysia. They receive applauds for their work from not just the country but other countries as well.
Ravichandra and his father built this 14-feet tall statue to install in a park in Bengaluru. Ravichandra said that it took around two months to build this statue for his father with the help of few workers. They used two tonnes of iron nuts for making this statue.
His father Venkateswara Rao said that various kinds of scrap materials were used, to build the statue of PM Modi. In addition to nuts, bolts, and iron scrap, GI wire was also used for the better look of the statue, especially for the hairstyle, spectacles and beard. Around 10 to 15 workers assisted him in completing the statue.
Before working on the statue of PM, they designed a 10-feet tall Dhyana Gandhi sculpture for a world record. They used 75,000 nuts for the sculpture. Seeing that sculpture, a Bangalore based organization asked them to make the statue of PM Modi. Hence, they built this statue.
